March 2018 President’s Letter

Over the past few years, the Tres Dias International Secretariat (TDI) has concentrated on becoming more relevant to the communities. We have made significant progress, and I would like to point to a few of the things we are doing to help. Many of the publications that were previously sold and shipped from our supplies center are now available online; communities can now download and print these items at no cost. We have developed a detailed guide called “The New Community Startup Model.” This guide helps an emerging community start with a solid foundation and build on that foundation as it works toward becoming a fully chartered community. The story of the Ontario startup later in this issue testifies to the guide’s value. The Membership Committee has initiated a new liaison program. The program makes it possible for the membership vice president to send a certified trainer to each community to teach the Tres Dias Essentials. The training allows the community to maintain its current charter, and it connects the local secretariat with the international secretariat on a personal level. It’s an opportunity to share success stories and, when needed, to confront challenges. Our media chairman has revamped our website ( www.tresdias.org) to be more appealing and user friendly. You’ll still find a listing of communities and dates for upcoming weekends. But the descriptions of the Tres Dias experience are far more detailed and more engaging than before. You’ll find  answers to frequently asked questions, videographed testimonials from new pescadores, and a blog filled with inspirational stories, many of which were previously published in this newsletter. The most recent additions include online training videos for creating and maintaining a public Facebook page and designing a web-based team application form. You can now find Tres Dias on Facebook Instagram, and Twitter. Approximately 4,500 people are following Tres Dias on Facebook. Are you one of them? We also publish this quarterly newsletter. To share it with your community, send a spreadsheet with names and email addresses to newsletter@tresdias.org. (The addresses are secured and will not be shared with a third party.) Your community will feel connected with more than 100 communities worldwide as you learn about what is happing in those communities. The TDI Policy Committee has created position papers discussing topics like the meaning of cloister and the role of spiritual directors. These papers have been placed on the TDI web site under Resources. These are a few initiatives that Tres Dias International is developing to help our communities grow stronger. God has used the ministry of Tres Dias to bless thousands around the world. It is the obligation of the International Secretariat to continue to do all we can to help our communities so that they can continue to send servant leaders into all their environments and bless thousands!
