By Don Bohl Looking for ways to bless your spiritual directors? Here are a few suggestions:

1. Honor your community’s spiritual directors with a special lunch. Select a quiet place where they can talk. Invite discussion about what serving with Tres Dias has meant to them. Ask about Tres Dias’s role in preparing leaders for their congregations. Discuss ways to promote Tres Dias to other pastors.
2. Recognize special events in their lives: Ask your community’s corresponding secretary to send birthday cards and/or anniversary cards. Be aware of other personal or professional events and provide appropriate recognition.
3. Show that you appreciate the sacrifice the spiritual director’s spouse is making: Send a gift (flowers are always appropriate) on Thursday evening. Attach a note saying you will hold the spouse as well as the spiritual director in prayer throughout the weekend.
4. Support the spiritual director’s spouse during the weekend. Have someone on call to run errands or provide any other support that may be needed. A sponsor does this for a candidate; the same support can be extended to the spiritual director’s spouse.
5. Prepare a special gift for the spiritual directors to be presented at the Victory Secuela. Be creative. It might be something to remember the weekend (e.g., a Tres Dias cross with the date and scripture for the weekend engraved on the back), or something to support the director’s personal hobby (e.g. a gift certificate to a sporting goods store), or simply a thank-you card with signatures from team and candidates.
