Welcome

Beau Bruce of the North Georgia Tres Dias Community welcomed everyone to the Tres Dias International Assembly. Beau Bruce headed the General Planning Committee for this gathering.  Bill Furr, President of North Georgia Tres Dias, greeted the Assembly on behalf of the community. (Both have been serving on the International Secretariat as well as their local Board.) 

 

Invocation

__________________,  gave a prayer of invocation prior to the commencement of the meeting.

 

Procession of the Banners

Banners from each of the member communities of Tres Dias were displayed encircling the Assembly Hall.  Delegates and Observers from each of the communities in attendance carried the banner representing the Pescadores of their communities.  The grand procession brings to mind the thousands and thousands of men and women worldwide who have been touched by God during their Tres Dias experience. 

 

1st Business Session of the 29th INT’L Assembly (JIM bAILEY)

Call to Order

The 29th Annual Assembly of Tres Dias International convened at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2008.  The meeting was held in Alpharetta, GA.  The Chairman, Jim Bailey, presided. He began by asking John McKinney, the first President of the national organization of Tres Dias, and Bruce Cato, the current President of what is now the international organization, to speak about the Roots and the Branches of Tres Dias—our historical and our present day story.

 

Recognition of Communities in Attendance

Paul Weis, VP Membership, then called the roll so that those present from all communities represented could be recognized. 

 

The Two Governing Bodies of Tres Dias

Jim then called attention to the functions of the two governing bodies of Tres Dias: the International Secretariat and the Assembly of Delegates.  The gathering of Delegates and Observers at the Annual Assembly provides an opportunity, not only to do the business of Tres Dias, but also to provide motivation, information and ways to learn, to share and to experience God’s grace through camaraderie and worship. He encouraged each person to fully participate in every aspect of the Assembly. He reviewed the responsibilities of the Assembly, including those that are carried out by proxy vote.

 

Introduction of Appointed Parliamentarian

 Jerry Guynn was appointed as the Parliamentarian.  He briefly explained the meeting protocol as directed by the Roberts Rules of Order, newly revised edition, October 2000.  

 

Introduction of Appointed Officers of the Assembly

The following officers were appointed to serve the 29th International Assembly: Linda Cappelletti, Recording Secretary; Andrea Grayson, Financial Secretary; Angie Bruce, Treasurer; and Elizabeth Lauster, Registrar, Audrey Alexander, Co-registrant. 

 

Presentation and Approval of “Standing Rules of the 29th Assembly”

The Standing Rules of the Assembly were presented.  Judy LeMasurier made a motion to approve the Standing Rules.   Eric Borman seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

 

Presentation and Approval of Agenda

The agenda was presented.  Wilson Burton made a motion to approve the agenda.  Richard Thornhill seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

 

Call for motions for New Business to be Presented to the Assembly

Motions for New Business may be made in writing by a Delegate and presented to the Assembly Chairperson by 1 PM for consideration of discussion under New Business.

 

Last Call for Proxy Ballots (Elections, Budget and Assessment, Approval to Separate the Constitution and by-laws documents

The Chairman, Jim Bailey, made a last call for Proxy Ballots (on Elections, Budget & Assessment, and approval of issues that affect the By-laws).

 

Cindy Mentz, Chair of the Elections sub-committee, and Valerie Mehl were ordered to tally the votes.

 

Attendance Report Presented

Co-Registrar, Audrey Alexander, presented the attendance report and verified a quorum.  There were 120 total attendees:  46 Observers; 74 Delegates; 16 US States, 6 other countries, with a total of 30 communities. 

 

Jim Bailey introduced the current President of the International Secretariat of Tres Dias, Bruce Cato.

 

Annual Report Presented

Bruce presented the highlights of the Annual Report of the work of the Secretariat over the course of fiscal year 2007-2008.  

 

Bruce Cato – Gave an Annual Report overview and what we are seeing around the world in God’s Passion & Grace with a vision of great growth. Networking needs to be done to have the “net” to bring in what Jesus gives us.  It’s HIS catch.

 

Formal documents can be found on the web of what TDI stands for.

 

Merv LeMasurier on behalf of Ann Wyatt reviewed the 2007 Balance and Income statement for year end 6/30/07 and found the books in order with no discrepancies. 

The income and expenses are in line with previous years and the increase in Assets and Liabilities ties out with the Profit & Loss statement.  A full disclosure of financial conditions can be found on the back of the reports, see Don VanLandingham for details concerning 2008. 

 

Judy Herren offered words to Bruce Cato regarding his service.  Bill Boyd was also recognized.

Voting Results

 

The Election sub-committee, Cindy Mentz, elections chair, and Valerie Mehl explained the voting policy and procedures from section 2.3.2 of the Constitution and By-laws.  Cindy Mentz presented the Voting Results.  There were a total of 182 proxy votes received.

 

Cindy Mentz, Valerie Mehl, and Paula Boyd (former Chair) presented the results.

 

ISSUES SENT TO PROXY VOTE:

 

1.      Passed:   Creation of Endowment Fund

2.      Passed:   Annual Budget  $22,000

3.      Passed:   Unit Assessment Charge Increase to $60/Unit

4.      Defeated:   Change in By-laws #1.5 on Computation of representation of the Local Secretariats to the assembly. 2/3 vote required.

A Time of Prayer

Jim led The Assembly of Delegates and Observers in a prayer to thank God for His wisdom and guidance in choosing our new officers and members of the International Secretariat.

 

Break/Workshops/Lunch

At 11:05 a.m., the Chairman, Jim Bailey, announced a recess in the Business Session for instructions, a short break, the first Workshops of the Assembly and lunch.

Meeting Reconvenes

At 1:45pm p.m., Chairman, Jim Bailey, called the Second Session of the 29th Tres Dias International Assembly to order.

 

Acknowledgement of Past Presidents and the Secretariat Executive

The Chairman, Jim Bailey, acknowledged the past presidents of Tres Dias International who were in attendance.  He announced them by name, community and number of terms served.

John McKinney, 1st President, Mid-Hudson, 1 term; Mid Hudson is where Tres Dias started. Since 1993 John has served as Secretariat Executive, a staff position.

Ken Kessler, Northern Virginia, 1 term (recognized but not in attendance) Helped with Korea and Japan communities.  

Bill Boyd, Mid-Carolinas, 2 terms

Terry Gilbreath, North Georgia, 1 term

 

New Business

 

Mike Holmes recognized Bruce Cato and his leadership while leaving office.  Mike presented him with a hand-made cross with the engraved scripture – Matthew 25:23 -

“Well done, good and faithful servant!  You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.  Come and share your master’s happiness!”

 

There were no item(s) of New Business. The Chair received no item(s) by the 1 PM deadline. 

 

The Resolution for Growth was read by Jim Bailey. 

 

The Tres Dias Ministry enters the 29th Annual Assembly with a servant hearted history of advancing the cause of Christ through our interdenominational, Bible based version of the Cursillo method, and

 

Through the Blue Ribbon Committee, we have unified this God honoring ministry made up of some seventy chartered Tres Dias communities around the world following the Essentials of our movement, and

 

Whereas the founders of this ministry had a vision of growth, and

 

Whereas the launching of new Tres Dias communities is the responsibility of existing communities and their Pescadores to lovingly nurture new communities into existence, that

 

At the 29th Annual Assembly of the International Tres Dias, we do agree and affirm by this Resolution to dedicate the next 35 years to reaching the goal of 500 Tres Dias communities around the world, and,

 

We pledge our chartered communities to lovingly find practical ways to positively move forward with the expansion of sharing God’s love, grace and forgiveness, and,

 

We ask the Secretariat of the International Tres Dias to prayerfully lead us into this expansion to the glory of God and our Lord Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.

 

Resolution Passed unanimously.

 

Stories of God’s Grace from Tres Dias Around the World

Members of several TD communities from around the world were invited to speak briefly to witness how God’s grace was manifest in their lives or in the lives of people in their communities as a result of attending Tres Dias.  The inspiring stories touched us all and reminded us of our commitment to piety, study and action to serve the Lord.)

 

Representatives from Korea, Jamaica, Canada, Cuba, Kiev, Ecuador, and Peru all shared testimonies of what God is doing in an through Tres Dias in the local communities.

 

The community in Kiev, Ukraine announced they will start a new community in Liev, Ukraine October 2008.  Men’s weekend October 14-17, Women’s October 21-24.  The team is already in place with 20 candidates. Prayer is requested and information circulated among others is also requested.

 

Tres Dias #1 in New Mexico on a Navajo reservation will soon be realized.  Ireland is also seeking chartership.

Jim Bailey called on Bill Furr, President of North Georgia TD, to accept our thanks on behalf of the entire community of North Georgia TD for their (“intense and thoughtful preparation, for hospitality that made us feel like celebrity guests, for workshops and worship services that opened our minds and filled our hearts, for food, and Palanca that lifted us, moved us and amused us.   He asked Beau Bruce, Chair of the North Georgia TD Planning Committee for the 29th Annual International Assembly to come forward.  On behalf of the International Assembly, Jim thanked Beau for leading and inspiring the team that hosted the Assembly. The entire team rose to be recognized.

 

Invitation to the Next Annual Assembly

Jim Bailey invited Pam Belknap to rise and give the invitation and motion regarding the site of the next annual Assembly.

The motion was given as follows:

On behalf of TD Cleveland, OH we invite you to the next assembly in Bay Village, OH.  Motion was made to accept.

Motion seconded by Julie Bohl.  Motion passed.

 

Passing of Banners

Beau Bruce of North Georgia TD community passed the banner of Tres Dias International to Pam Belknap, representing the Cleveland Tres Dias Community, the site of the next Tres Dias International Assembly, July 10-12, 2009.  Theme – abide in Him, Scripture verse John 15:5.

 

DISTRIBUTE SHEET WITH LOCATIONS OF UPCOMING MEETINGS

 

International Secretariat of Tres Dias Meetings

The first International Secretariat meeting of this fiscal year will begin tomorrow morning at 8 AM at Family Life Center. All were invited to attend and to participate on the standing committees of the Secretariat. The fall meeting is scheduled for October 24-26, 2008 and will be hosted by Maine TD in Portland, Maine.

The spring meeting of the International Secretariat will be held March 13-15, 2009 hosted by Music City TD in Nashville, TN.

 

(THE FOLLOWING MAY OR MAY NOT BE ANNOUNCED…)

The 30th Annual Tres Dias International Assembly and Secretariat meeting will be July 10-12, 2009, hosted by Cleveland TD in Cleveland, Ohio.

 

The fall meeting will be from Oct. 24-26, 2008, hosted by Maine TD, in Portland, ME.

 

TDI is in need of a host location for the March 12-14th, 2010 assembly.  Paul Weis at Abundant Life in Chicago volunteered.

 

 

March 10-13th, 2011 location also needed. 

 

Unscripted:

Bruce called Paul to come forward in order to pass the gavel.   He humbly received it.

Ron McCloud also introduced and acknowledged as a former President of Tres Dias International.

 

Break/ Workshops

The Assembly was recessed for one hour for the second set of workshops.

 

Installation of International Tres Dias Secretariat Officers and Members

The meeting was reconvened in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as we worshipped, shared communion and affirmed our commitment to God’s work.

The Rev. Rico Ruiz officiated at the installation and consecration of the new Officers and members of Tres Dias International Secretariat. 

 

Following the commitment service, the meeting continued with the Reading and Approval of International Assembly Minutes –Linda Cappelletti.

 

John Green made a motion to approve the minutes [as corrected].  Mike Holmes seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

 

Adjournment of 29th Annual Assembly of Tres Dias International

 

A motion was made to close the 29th Annual Assembly of Tres Dias.  Judy LeMasurier motioned to adjourn, Sue Loveland seconded the motion.  Motion carried.  We adjourned at 5:35 p.m.
